VOLUME EYELASH EXTENSIONS

TECHNIQUES

SWIPE

The Swipe Technique is a very quick volume fanning method, as it only requires 3 steps: Lift, Swipe and Pick Up. This method can be used to fan out any diameter of lashes.

1. Grab the desired amount of extensions and gently lift them towards your chest. Approximately 1mm of the base should still be attached to the strip.

Ensure that you have a strong grip of the fan to prevent the bases from falling apart.

2. Using the tip of the tweezer, gently swipe the lashes to the side.

The key is to be gentle! Swiping too hard will cause the lashes to stick back onto the strip.

3. Continue to adjust the lashes until you’re happy with the fan.

4. Carefully insert the fan in-between the tweezer.

5. Stabilize the back of the tweezer on the surface before gripping the fan.

Failure to stabilize the tweezer before gripping the fan can cause the lashes and base to shift when you lift it off the strip

6. Once the tweezer is stabilized, bend back approximately 45 degrees back and grip the fan.Your fan and base can shift if you do not bend back.

7. Gently lift the fan off the strip towards your chest.Ensure you have a strong grip to prevent the lashes from slipping when you lift it off the strip. Lifting the fan towards your chest will prevent your bases from shifting.

STRIP

The Strip Technique is a great volume fanning method that will provide you with full control over the lashes. It’s a great method to start off with if you’re a beginner, as it teaches you how to feel and control the lashes. This method can be used to fan out any diameter of lashes.

1. Grab the desired amount of extensions and gently lift them towards your chest. Approximately 1mm of the base should still be attached to the strip.

2. Slide the tweezer down and grip the last 1mm of the base – this will prevent the bases from separating.

3. Grip and gently remove the lashes from the strip.Ensure that you have a strong grip to prevent the bases from falling apart.

4. Place the approximately 1mm of the base back onto the strip.

5. Wiggle and pick the lashes apart until you’ve created your desired fan.

6. Slide the fan in-between the tweezer.

7. Stabilize your hand on the surface. Bend the tweezer back approximately 45 degrees and grip the fan.Ensure you have a strong grip to prevent your fan from falling apart.

8. Lift the fan off the strip by pulling it towards your chest.

PINCH

The Pinch Technique is a method used for creating Mega Volume Fans. Volume Lashes in 0.03mm are used to create fans. As the fan is created using the fingers, it is very important to wash and sanitize your hands to remove oil and dirt. Oil will affect the retention of your lash sets and dirt can lead to eye infections. Gloves can worn, but is not a replacement for washing hands.

When using 0.03mm lashes, always brush the lashes roughly with a new mascara wand prior to fanning. This will separate the lashes, so they can fan out easier.

Ensure not to create fans that are too heavy, as this can result in damage to the natural lashes!

1. Grab the desired amount of lashes 2mm from the base. Gently remove the lashes by lifting them towards your chest.Ensure that you have a strong grip to prevent the bases from falling apart.

2. Pinch your index finger and thumb together.

3. Place the base of the lashes in-between the thumb and index finger.

4. Gently pinch the base of the extensions while slowly releasing a bit of grip from the tweezer.Ensure not to release your grip completely, as this will cause your lashes to fall apart.

FAN CORRECTION

IMPERFECT BASES

Volume Fans should have pointy bases, as this will blend seamlessly with the natural lash. When picking up fans, sometimes the base of the lashes will come apart, be criss-crossed or have a boxy base. This can easy be fixed by gliding the base of the lashes on the sticky strip.

In this example, the base of the fan is criss-crossed.

1. Apply the base of the fan onto the sticky strip. Apply a little bit of pressure to force the bases apart. Do not let go of the fan! Ensure that your grip remains consistent or the fan will fall apart.

2. Glide the fan away from you. The bases should come back together.

RUNAWAY LASH

Ideally, the base of the fan should be together when it’s picked up. Sometimes, one extensions can “run away” from the rest of the fan. Luckily, it can be easily fixed with changing the direction of the fan is dipped in the adhesive and adjusting the tweezer tension.

In this example, the left lash has separated from the base.

To bring the lash back together with the base, you will have to dip sideways, moving into the adhesive bubble from right to left - this motion pushes the extension back together. While moving through the adhesive, slightly loosen your tweezer grip to allow the extension to move back together.

SPIKES

Volume Spikes can be used to create beautiful texture in a set, which may mimic a false lash strip effect depending on the design. A Volume Spike is a chunk of Volume Lashes that are not fanned out – there can be 5-15 lashes per spike, depending on the desired results. We recommend using 0.03mm, as they are super lightweight.

1. Start with off with a strip of Volume Lashes in 0.03mm.

2. Soak a clean applicator with water.

3. Swipe the applicator on the lashes.

4. The water will cause the lashes to clump together. Pick up the desired amount of lashes, and remove from the strip by lifting towards your chest.

5. Dip the Volume Spike into the adhesive and apply onto the natural lash.

PRE-MADE FANS

Pre-Made Fans are volume fans are that have already created with the bases pre-bonded by heat or adhesive. They look identical to Pro-Made Fans. They are great to keep on hand for lash emergencies – sometimes your hands can be overworked and make fanning really difficult. Pop these babies out and it will save the day!

1. Grab the fan above where it is bonded.Ensure to have a strong grip or the fan will be ruined.

2. Lift the fan upwards and away from to you remove it off the strip.

3. Place the fan on the tile.

4. Grab the fan.

PRO-MADE FANS

Pro-Made Fans are great, as you can practice creating fans without having to waste your work. Create your fans and store them away for future use! In addition, there are times when you may encounter a “lash emergency”, such as your volume tweezers not working or your hands are tired. Pop your pro-made fans out so you can complete your appointments!

Pro-Made Fans are to be applied like Classic Lash Extensions. It is best to bond onto the top or bottom of the natural lash. These cannot be wrapped around the natural lash as they are pre-bonded.

Our Pro-Made Fan technique does not require curing/crystallizing the fan with your fingers. We do not recommend curing/crystallizing with your fingers, as you expose yourself to the adhesive – the adhesive is not meant to be applied onto the skin. Long term exposure can result in health issues.

To create Pro-Made Fans, you’ll need:

• Damp Cosmetic Sponge (soaked with water)

• Micropore Tape

Once your fan is created and dipped in adhesive, the excess adhesive is removed by wiping onto a piece of micropore tape. It is important to remove the excess adhesive, as you’ll be dipping the fan in adhesive again when you’re applying it. The base of the fan is then wiped onto the damp sponge to cure/crystalize the adhesive.

1. Create your fan using any Volume Technique.

2. Dip the fan in adhesive.

3. Gently wipe the excess adhesive off onto a piece of Micropore Tape.

4. Gently wipe the base of the fan onto a damp sponge (sponge soaked with water). This will cure the adhesive immediately, which will “freeze” your fan.

5. Store your fans in a container for future use.

EASY FAN LASHES

Easy Fan Lashes are multi-layered layered lashes where the bases are slightly stuck together. These are great lashes for beginners, as it allows you to learn how to manipulate the lashes into a fan without the bases falling apart. The downside of these lashes are that the bases can be a bit boxy if more than 8 lashes are used.

1. Grab the desired amount of extensions and gently lift them towards your chest. You’ll notice the lashes will start to fan out a bit.

2. Grip and gently remove the lashes from the strip.3. Place it back onto the strip.

3. Wiggle and pick the lashes apart until you’ve created your desired fan.The lashes are slightly stuck together at the base, so picking the lashes apart from the base will help fan them out.

5. Slide the fan in-between the tweezer.

6. Stabilize your hand on the surface and bend your tweezer back by 45 degrees. Firmly grip the fan.

7. Remove the fan off the strip by lifting it off the strip.

8. Dip the fan into the adhesive. Coat the area where the base is still stuck together to prevent the fan from closing.
